WHAT WE’VE DONE

Since 2015, The Tribe has performed a number of sold-out shows—many of them themed all-star fundraising events for local charities of varying causes at LA-area clubs and theaters. Since early 2017, we have raised money for the Get Together Foundation, whose primary focus is helping underprivileged kids and families, and other partner organizations for crisis relief. Our fundraising efforts have helped feed and bring comfort and services to those in need. Here’s a quick summary starting with the most recent:

2022 – April, The Care Concert, annual benefit concert for the Get Together Foundation. Our “One-Hit Wonders” show featured several original artists including Elliot Lurie (Looking Glass) “Brandy (You’re a Fine Girl)”, Walter Egan (“Magnet & Steel”), Soul Survivors Members Charlie Ingui, Joh “Beedo” Dzubak, and Neil Larsen (“Expressway to Your Heart”) and took place at the Palace Theatre in downtown LA. Proceeds launched GTF’s Music Enrichment Program for Underprivileged Youth.

2021 – August, The ROCKESTRATION Show. This joint event featured a 40-piece youth orchestra and supported the Get Together Foundation and Valley Cultural Foundation’s programs for the arts and underprivileged youth and families. This was followed up in December with a holiday benefit concert at Bogies in Westlake Village.

2020 – no live shows due to the pandemic.

2019 – July, California Saga 2, an all-star concert event in support of the Get Together Foundation at the Theatre at Ace Hotel in DTLA. Performances included David Crosby, Al Jardine, Jesse Colin Young, members of the Immediate Family: Waddy Wachtel, Danny Kortchmar, Steve Postell, co-hosts Derek Smalls & Judith Owen. Proceeds launched GTF’s bridge housing facility and the purchase of the Care-a-Van feeding unsheltered homeless individuals throughout L.A.

2018 – June, the Tribe performed its annual benefit concert – a Spring fest themed “The Decades Show” at the El Rey in LA’s Miracle Mile and at The Canyon in Agoura Hills. In December, a holiday benefit called “Music from Across the Pond” was hosted by Peter Asher. Also in January 2018, we performed a relief concert at Bogies in Westlake Village for the victims of the Thomas Fire.

2017 – June, The Care Concert, hosted by Kelly Osbourne, took place at The Palace Theatre in downtown LA and featured Micky Dolenz, Florence LaRue, and more. Proceeds helped the homelessness crisis in Southern California through the Get Together Foundation, Hope of the Valley Rescue Mission, and the Midnight Mission. In December we returned to the El Rey for the “We Can” 80s Dance Party Benefit Concert event.

2016 – June, “The California Saga — A Musical Journey of the California Sound”, two nights at the El Rey and raised $20,000 for several local charities. In October we did a relief concert for Hurricane Matthew Victims in Haiti at Vitello’s in Studio City, and in December, we performed an all-star themed holiday concert, “Peace, Love & Understanding” at the Plaza del Sol Performance Hall at Cal State Northridge featuring Peter Asher, Mary Wilson, and Carnie Wilson.

2015 – July, first all-star themed benefit concert, “A Tribute to the Beach Boys” at The Canyon in Agoura Hills. We raised $20,000 for City of Hope. That December we performed a “Rock ’n’ Roll Christmas” concert and sold out CSUN’s Plaza del Sol Performance Hall. Combined, these two events raised nearly $40,000. 2015 became a significant turning point for the efforts of our musical group to make a difference in our community.
